UNESCO Bosnia & Herzegovina: Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic Bridge

The Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic Bridge is an old Ottoman bridge in Visegrad, constructed in 1577 and commissioned by the Pasa with the same name. It is one of merely two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I decided to do a separate post on the bridge, because we visited it during our Balkan trip earlier this May and I absolutely loved the imposing structure, and it represented an awesome white-grey contrast to the turquoise river (the Drina) flowing right under it. I’ll let the photos talk for this historical monument:
